About Me:
Hello! Thank you for visiting my website! My name is Lily Marcus and I am a senior at Newton North High School. I am in the CAPStone Internship program and for the months of March and April I will be interning with Spartan Race in their marketing, licensing, and sponsorship divisions. On this website, I will be posting blog posts about my experience, presentations that I have made throughout the CAPStone program, and more. Please feel free to contact me if you have further questions, or leave comments below the weekly blog posts.
CAPS Proposal:
I am a very hands on learner, and I believe that working in the field of marketing will be very beneficial to me. I will learn much more and gain a different perspective of the business world by interning as opposed to sitting in a classroom. I will be interning with Spartan Race either in their licensing or marketing division. I am in contact with Ian Lawson, and he will be managing me and my daily affairs. I am very good at managing my time and I know that I will maximize the time I have with Spartan Race while still maintaining the requirements that I am obligated to fulfill such as the web portfolio and preparing for the presentation.
I am very excited for a new adventure. As I said before, I am a very hands and a quick learner, and I'm really curious to see how I like the field that I am going to be interning in, and to see whether I want to continue along the same track in college. I am concerned about fulfilling all of my hours, but I know that it will all work out, for there will be a ceaseless amount of work that I can do for them.
My sophomore year I interned at Zinkerz, a startup SAT company based in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The internship began with a series of beta tests on the Zinkerz app. We ensured the app was bug-free, had a clean aesthetic, and was easy to navigate. In the last two months of the internship, we were given our final task: a competition to create an App marketing strategy. We knew that our peers were the target audience. On competition day, my group presented first. We discussed ideas and then expanded to potential marketing opportunities through sites like Spotify and Pandora. We won the competition; the Zinkerz marketing team announced it would take our strategy into consideration. This project was a fantastic introduction to the fast pace and creative nature of marketing. I loved discovering the best way to work with a team and target an audience.
