During my final week at Spartan, I have done many projects big and small. I have researched locations of hospitals in the area to see where we could partner with them based off of their locations and our race locations. The best thing that I did this week was also one of the most memorable parts of my internship. I sat in on a meeting with FILA and Ian had me take notes on their hour long meeting on a potential partnership. They discussed new gear, how SR is completely moving towards a private label and away from having to work through Reebok, and how they are going to rebrand the company based upon how rapidly they are growing in the e-commerce division. The company is growing more rapidly than I realized ever before, and they have so many small projects that are positively influencing the brand and that are going to lead to the ultimate success of the 7 year old company. I was particularly impressed with how rapidly the kids race is growing, and how they are also going to have kids only races coming up soon, which will bring in 80,000 new racers who are all between the ages of 6-12.

This week was really nice to get back into the swing of things. On Monday, I got to sit in on a meeting with SR's advertising agency, ESP and I got to listen to them prepare for their big Nike and Under Armor pitch for sponsorship meeting coming up. We went through each slide to try and have each divisions questions answered so that the meeting would be able to last 3 hours or all day. I also entered around 180 categories for products of business cards we received recently into the Salesforce database which I finished on Wednesday. I had to research each company and sort it into its appropriate category. I also sorted out the Sponsorship Outlook category for another report in Salesforce by putting the sponsors into each companies individual level of interest and how close SR is to securing a deal with them.
When I walked into the office on Monday, my usual desk was taken so I made my way over to my fourth desk since I’ve been here and the chair is super weird and uncomfortable and definitely a little broken. Besides that, I finished my list of 700 names and their respective LinkedIn files. For the rest of the week, I did much more manageable projects like researching the official food brands of SR, for explain, the official water, the official apple cider vinegar, the official bread, and more. I also did more shoe brand research. While doing this research, some of the people around me started asking me questions about the “lingo” that “us kids are saying nowadays” and it was very funny to hear people that we consider hip millennials to be completely unaware and out of the pop culture loop and sounding so awkward about it.
This week, I worked on one project for the entire time. I was given a list of around 700 names and I have to find each person's contact information using LinkedIn and Winmo. This task was incredibly difficult and took more than last week to do so I am going to continue and try to finish the last 150 next Monday. Another thing I did this week was essentially play musical chairs. I helped the workers here rearrange the desks in order to create for more space because there are a lot of recent hires so I had to sit at three different desks last week.
This was a solid week at Spartan. I am finally starting to settle in and feel more welcomed and independent the more that I am there. I feel like the people around me definitely trust me to do a good job when they give me certain task. Many more people have been emailing me to do some research projects for them like looking for certain data, getting quotes from local print shops, and more. I had one project to work on all this week that has no actual end to the amount of research that could be done on it, so hopefully I will just research to the best of my abilities and then after that move onto something new so it's not as repetitive as last week was. The best thing about last week though was that on Wednesday there was a staff meeting so the office was completely empty from 2-3:30 so it was really cool to have the whole space to myself because I felt really trusted and mature.
