INITIAL RESEARCH PROJECT: MAJOR LEAGUE GAMING
Our first project that we tackled was called the IRT. We were each given a random topic to present in under three minutes using minimal words and only three slides. For this project, I was given the topic of Major League Gaming. I presented on how the MLG is the global leader in eSports. This form of competitive gaming was founded by Sundance DiGiovanni and Mike Sepo in 2002 and took off in 2006 when it started being broadcasted on TV. People that compete in the MLG form teams and practice diligently. The teams compete in international competitions in order to win pooled prize money, which can be as high as over $20 million. This interactive team sport can have 3-12 members on a team, playing games such as Dota, League of Legends, Halo, Call of Duty, and more. Each team is ranked depending on tournament outcomes. Right now, there are as many as 9 million registered users competing across the globe, and that number is growing every day. |
PECHA KUCHA
A Pecha Kucha is a presentation style created to tell a story. There are traditionally 20 slides that play for 20 seconds each, and each slide has no words on it. The main idea of this style is so that the presenter is not relying on their presentation to do all of the work for them. Since our time together was cut short due to numerous consecutive snow days, we did 10 slides that each played for 15 seconds. |
